Our Business History
Clock County was built on a foundation of precision machining, mechanical engineering expertise, rigorous quality control, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Our story began in the late 1970s, when Charles McCreary started a small but dedicated clock repair operation out of his two‑car garage in Northwest Houston. As the business grew, his son‑in‑law, Steve Woodruff, joined him in daily operations, bringing additional technical skill and a shared passion for quality craftsmanship.
By the mid‑1980s, their reputation for reliability and expert workmanship earned Clock County recognition as a high‑demand, independent, non‑retail authorized warranty service center for several American clock manufacturers and local retailers. What started as a modest garage workshop quickly evolved into a trusted name in the clock repair and restoration industry.
Modern Operations
By 1993, having outgrown their original location, the shop moved to its current location inside Milwee Industrial Park. The security and low profile of such a location offered cost savings to their customers over a standard "storefront" high profile retail location.
In 1998, Steve Woodruff acquired the company and modernized operations. Soon, increasing demand required expansion to the current 3000 square feet of shop space, with the ability to offer long term climate-controlled storage of large floor clocks for their customers.
Companies We Served
An Open-Shop for All Your Clocks
At Clock Country, customers meet directly with the horologist and staff who will be caring for their clock. There’s no behind‑the‑curtain back room wizardry or hidden “mystery workshop”— just dedicated, honest, and fully visible craftsmanship.
Visitors are welcome to observe work in progress and see clocks in various stages of repair, adjustment, and testing. This transparent environment is designed to build trust and confidence. Every clock remains in the shop until it has been thoroughly tested, verified to be operating at its best, and is ready to be returned to its owner.
